Great for the theatre

There are so many theaters on 44th Street and parking garages to go with them. I like the restaurant here as a convenient place to grab a decent meal before a show. I have found the service prompt so you get out on time for the curtain.

Checked all of the boxes

The staff was wonderful and welcoming! They texted up to the room to make sure we were doing ok. My son was sick for our entire stay and didn't leave the room one time, and the staff was helpful with medicine suggestions, and food delivery. I felt very safe at this little hotel, and being Times Square adjacent was wonderful for when i could venture out on my own for short periods. The rooms was clean, adequate for what we needed. We looked out onto the Belasco Theatre, and enjoyed being on the 12th floor.

Great location!

This hotel is just a few metres from Times Square and a couple of minutes walk from the theatres and 5th Avenue. The subway is really close, too. It's right in the middle of Manhattan and very easy to get around to all the different neighbourhoods. The rooms are small but adequate, decor on the dated side. Our 14th floor room had a view down to Times Square. The air con units - both inside and outside - were very noisy. The hotel did store suitcases after checkout for free, which was very welcome. Breakfast wasn't included and there are so many bagel shops and cafes nearby that I wouldn't recommend adding it on to your hotel package. The hotel was included in a good value British Airways package, and I wouldn't choose it otherwise. It was a perfect base for exploring the city for a couple of days, but don't expect luxury and style.

Great location!

The location is fantastic, just yards from Times Square, but surprisingly quiet. It's perfect for a long weekend in the city to see all the sights. The room was quite basic but suited us fine for our 4-night stay. There's no mention of the extra charges when you're booking, which was annoying as we weren't expecting to have to pay extra on check-out.

MohitGM, General Manager at Hotel Mela, responded to this review

We appreciate the feedback, Laura. We regret to hear that you were caught off guard by some of the fees associated with your booking. It's unfortunate you didn't notice the fees previously. In no way do we intend on hiding it from our guests as the information is readily available on our website. We'll be sure to pass this along to the appropriate members of our team for future improvement. Thanks again for sharing your feedback. We're always looking for ways to improve our guests' experiences and we intend on using your concerns to do just that.
